[Dailydrool] A Question

I had a question posed to me last night by my 12 year old daughter and was wondering if someone
here on the Drool could help me answer it.  Several months ago there was a thread on the Drool
about Bell Hounds which I found quite facinating and shared the info with the 2-legger kids.  Last
night, my daughter started baying, and Sean started baying, and well, you get the picture. 
Anyway, my daughter then asked me, "How come Bassets do that?  The Bell Hound thing, I mean."  I
had no idea what to tell her and searched the archives for the answer and came up with nothing, so
does anybody know why they do that?  (Leave it to a kid to ask, I know!).
