[Dailydrool] Dailydrool Digest, Vol 41, Issue 11

Well...I a have been lurking for a long time. I used to be an avid poster
when Lady Bea owned me.

I have to tell you, I am at a loss with this comment. While it is absolutely
devasting to lose a basset family member (I've lost many), and I *know* that
I offer a wonderful home, when I posted about my lost bassets that did NOT
mean I expected rescues to come knocking on my door offering basset hounds
at my feet.

I remember how difficult it was for you to lose Homer. I am involved with
ABC Basset Rescue, one of the rescues you are criticizing. Did you follow
ABC's application process? Talk to a volunteer? Did you follow the
application process for any of the rescues you mentioned below? To expect a
rescue to seek you out and offer you a dog is an unrealistic and unfair
expectation, and then to criticize a rescue because they didn't, is worse,
and to top it all off suggest that because they didn't their financial
dealings are questionable is irresponsible.

Most folks who *do* rescue don't have time to sit and pour through endless
Daily Drool Digest. They are out actually rescuing dogs, screening homes,
transporting dogs, answering correspondence.

Additonally-in regards to ABC, ABC is a not-for profit 501c3 organization
recognized by the state of NY. As such, our records are public record. We
are listed at www.guidestar.org and you are more than welcome to visit and
peruse our previous years tax return should you have any question about how
our organization is run. Any federally recognized 501c3 organization will be
listed here.

I hope that this post is allowed to pass through~ as if a rescue can be
criticized, someone should also be willing to post a response.

Sadly,

<snip>
I have been on the drool since the advent of my beloved Homer joined our
hosehold in the early 90's....It was a wonderful place, and we had a lot of
fun...Now, I post only sympathy notes..Why? because a lot of my posts got
BUTt WHEN IT CAME TO TRYING TO ADOPT ANOTHER
BASSET....EVEN DROOPY WOULD NOT HELP ME..even, the then the coordinator of
adoptions, who lived in Pittsburgh snubbed me! We wound up with help from
Jim
Willis who found us Sammy down in N. Carolina. Sammy is a half basset, but
we
couldn't love him more. I've been kind of bitter at the drool ever
since...
not even ohio basset, Brood, or ABC offered to help us find another
basset...
All of these rescues exist and want money...and more money...but what do
they do with the bassets? I can't help wondering because we searched for 6
months before finding Sammy...and no rescue offered us a basset!
Now, wonder if the moderators will let me post this one.<snip>
