Waldo ATB's paws were 4.25" without nails. We used to call them dinosaur paws.

My son thinks I have lost my mind on this one, but it is driving me crazy. I walk the 3 dogs every day at
a canyon/equestrian trail place. The last week or so, there have been HUGE dog footprints in the snow.
They are fresh, so haven't gotten larger by melting. My biggest foot is 3 1/4 inches (without nails), belonging to our Chester. This footprint is about 5 inches, at least. ( measured with my hand--came
home and measured my hand.) I see most of the dogs that walk there, 2 standard poodles, lots of
labs, Bermese (sorry for the spelling) Mountain Dog. We had a St. Bernard/lab mix that everyone
mistook for a Newfoundland, and I swear his feet weren't this big. My son is making jokes about
some mythical mexican wolf thing. Chester's foot is not as large as some I have seen working with
Utah Friends of Basset Hounds, but I swear none have been anywhere near 5 inches. So, the question
is--how big is your basset's foot? And if you have something larger (Synthia and the Newfies?) how
big are theirs? And does anyone have a clue which dog breed has the biggest feet?
