**FIRST PLESE ACCEPT OUR HUNBLEST THANK YOU'S FOR THE OVERWHELMING SUPPORT
WE HAVE RECEIVED FOR BABY DYLAN....HE IS SCHEDULED FOR HIS ORTHOPEDIC
SURGERY ON MONDAY THE 27th**

**PLEASE CROSSPOST/FORWARD TO ALL THE BASSET LOVERS YOU KNOW**
He is an adorable 11 week old mill puppy. He has a bad leg and a sad story,
big surprise! We know all of us who work with rescue have seen and heard
more than we care to about the cruel realities of puppy mills and how
uncaring, cold, calloused and just downright stupid people can be. Dylan’s
“bad” leg is an untreated injury to his leg/hip that if the breeder had
tended to at the time of injury would not be an issue today. We will never
know how this occurred but the gist of what Dr. Reimer, his orthopedic vet,
said is that the ball joint of the leg was popped/forced out of the hip
socket. Left untreated the ball joint has rubbed on the socket wearing it
down so that is almost doesn’t exist anymore. Over time the leg bone has
also rotated 90 degrees outward causing the knee joint to be located on the
outside of his leg. All of this said he is a happy, happy, happy little boy
and gets around quite well. He walks/runs “pirate” style LOL, this is my
take on his swinging of a very straight “peg leg”. If the repair is not done
to correct the hip joint and straighten the knee eventually the leg would
have to be amputated as it will continue to deteriorate and cause him pain.

Dylan went to the orthopedic specialist this morning (1/13/2009). The cost
to repair his leg is 1,700 and this is with a 50% discount. Dr. Reimer, the
Orthopedic Vet here in town said that he should regain most of his mobility
and that he would never be ”perfect” again but this would save the leg and
restore Dylan to a very normal life. Once the leg has been repaired Dylan
will have several weeks of rehab and then be available for adoption.
Here is Dylan’s fundraising website. There will also be several funky folk
arty things that I have painted for him on the Daily Drool auction site,
Hounds Bay. Links are listed below. Any donation would be appreciated.
A little more info...Hounds Haven Basset Rescue is a non profit 501(c) 3

across this classic timeless photo of 2 of her grandparent's hounds!!
You get 10 note cards and the envelopes for $12.00, which part of the
