My husband was noticing that Honiy, our rescue has dew claws and our other two bassets, from a breeder do not have dew claws. Do the breeders have them removed as tiny puupies. poodles do along with having their tails docked? Or are they born without dewclaws. A close friend of mine has 2 corgis, her youngest son has achondoplasia dwarfism and cogie means dwarf dog. Chieftan is now within the senior age rangeand has injured his back just running in the yard, she has to reach the upstairs bedrooms and now he is hsestant to use them, She wants to eventually move to a house with less stairs even though her staires are wide and have a landing. We have a set of steep stairs leading down to the yard. I am worried about Buttercup and the stairs, could we ramp them? My friend says a lot of Little People have basset hounds. Maybe some of the rescue groups could make a plea to the Little People of America. I am hinting about senior dog to my husband but as we are just settling in Honey it is falling on deaf ears. I do still want a Newfi but maybe I could wait a few years or so. My friend chose a corgi because as a herding dog she thought they would be more active for an active boy, guess who does the walking and training? Sue L
