Blueberry always insisted on having something in that busy little mouth
whenever she went out the door. Whether it was to go for a walk or a ride or
a potty stop or just to greet the mailman, it didn't matter. She'd paw
through her toy pile to find something to hold, or if she were really
desperate and couldn't find anything, she'd just grab what was closest and roar out
of the house with it. Then she'd lose interest when she was in the The
Great Outdoors (i.e. suburban front lawn) and drop whatever treasure she
hadn't been able to leave the house without.

And then would start my treasure hunt. I'd walk the lawn finding what
she'd dropped. The t.v. remote control was a favorite. A bottle of perfume
once. A travel alarm clock. But, of course, there was also the result of
her frantic search for something mouth-sized which led her to the nearby
laundry hamper. Yes, she would occasionally (but memorably) treat my
neighbors to a bra, or underwear. Sometimes in the driveway. Once in the street.
(I just ignored that one, pretended I didn't have a clue who it belonged
to.)

Thanks for bringing back the memories! Everything she did was so
adorable. I remember the biiiig eyes rolling up and the grin of pride on her face
when she'd finally found something to hold and she was ready to go. And
then the tail wagging so fast you could barely see the tip, like it was
vibrating with joy.

I miss her every day.
