[Dailydrool] Incessant whining

Hi again,
I was just writing that last post, and I remembered something:
I have a question for all you smart hound lovers. In the morning, Watson
seems to think that I must pay attention to him at all times. Right now
Dadperson, Watson and I are living at my parent's house. I get up the
earliest and Watson gets up with me. I feed him breakfast, and then go get
ready for work. When I am curling my hair, I leave the bathroom door open
because if I don't, Watson whines (loudly) until I open it. However, it
never takes long for him to start whining while he lays right outside the
open bathroom door in the hallway. If he thinks it's been too long since
I've talked to him, he'll start to whine. If I ignore him, the whining just
gets louder. If I scold him he usually stops for about three seconds and
then starts whining again. If I even look at him, he'll stop but then he'll
start up again almost immediately. Does anyone have an idea of how to make
this stop? I don't know what to do. We've tried leaving the dogs outside in
the mornings until about 7:30 (Watson usually wakes up at 6am) but when we
do that, Watson just barks and yelps at the backdoor until he's let in. I
don't want to make the neighbors mad, so that stopped a while ago. When I'm
not here, this doesn't happen...

Does anyone else have this problem with a velcro hound? And is there any way
to make it stop or am I pretty much stuck with a whiney hound? I don't want
to wake anybody else in the house up, and we all live on the same floor, in
rooms that open into the same hallway. Watson's whining, therefore, can be
heard by all sleeping occupants and it is not something they are able to
sleep through. I can't do anything loud to scold him, becuase that will
defeat the purpose of letting everyone sleep too. All he seems to want is
attention, and he doesn't care if it's negative attention.

So, I'm at a loss. Maybe I should call Victoria Stillwell over, but I'm
afriad of what other criticisms she may have....

Any advise woudl be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Katie (aaaaghhh WATSON! shhhhhhhhhh!)
Watson (mom? mom? Moooooommmm? MOM! --- hi mom did you see me on the floor
here?? oh you did? ok ...... hey mom? mom??)
