WOW that is a great website!! Thanks for that. I have bookmarked it and will
go back to it later. What I want is the 3 hr seminar for lawyers only. LOL.
We have been lucky in that several sticky situations (two involving the
non-Basset) have not resulted in bites, but they easily could have, and we
are incredibly cautious.
I do not encourage people who the dogs meet on the street to pet the dogs
unless the dogs show enthusiasm. Any hesitation or body language that looks
dubious on the part of the dog,and I ask people to stay away. Nigel in
particular becomes extremely stressed by the approach of strangers, whether
they show interest in him or not,and he is the most likely to feel trapped
and therefore to bite.He never has. But it does not mean he won't.
Especially on walks he MUST feel he can get away, but since he is leashed, he
cannot. This, to me, is just a set-up for the dog to bite, so I ask everyone
to stay away unless Nigel approaches them(he would rather die.)
MomPerson to Nigel (no, I don't want to know you) Llewis (why is he so
goofy?) Conley (pet me pet me pet me feedme feed me) & Cooper (who are you
andwhat do you want?)
