Just adding a short note on the subject -- my beloved Bob Burns would not 
play either.  On the other hand, Samantha Sue had tons of toys and LOVED to 
play.  Daily she would try to get Bob to join in - to no avail.

We always felt that this was a product of the abuse and neglect he sufferred 
for the first 4 years of his life.  He was a cuddle-muffin and a 
sweatheart - but he just never could understand toys.

When we would play "fetch" or "tugger" or whatever with Sammi Sue, Bob would 
just sit there totally befuddled.  It was actually rather sad...
