My husband is a municipal water systems guy, working way under his certification level as a meter reader at trailer parks. Part of his job is to crawl under mobile homes and check pipes for leaks at the meter. About two weeks ago he was under a home in Tecumseh MI, and trapped in about 1.5 ft of space, on his back, unable to move much or look around him. Something hairy rubs his exposed ankle. Now he can feel it moving up the side of his body...

"Please don't be a skunk, PLEASE don't be a skunk..."
Now it is licking his neck, and he can turn his head to come face to face with a puppy. After he crawled out from under the house, puppy in tow, he knocks on the door and asks if this was theirs. "Oh, that's where he went, he's been missing for about an hour" This pup, a moving dust bunny, is a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix who was an oops litter. They "usually breed their female to another pom, and we haven't found a home for him yet, do ya want 'im?" <Gag> <curse> <gag>

So, DH puts them off for a week and talks to me, hoping that they would find a home for him. The week goes by and he returns to that trailer park as scheduled, when they tell him that they could get money by selling him to the UM animal testing lab. <gag><expletive><explitive><gag> DH has dealt with this kind of stupidity before and tells them that they have two choices, either give him the puppy for free and ensure that he would have a very happy life with the best of care, or drive for an hour to get $5.00 for a puppy who would be dead within a week. Sooo, they were convinced to give him the puppy.
To be continued...
