Becky,
I love the bit on the morning walk. Luckily for me, Oliver is not a morning person. All he can muster is the energy to eat breakfast (somehow he always finds the energy to eat!) and then he promptly returns to his nap. His walk time is in the evening, the instant that I walk through the door.
How is it that bassets always know the well landscaped plants and flowers and gravitate towards them?? You know those certain houses with perfectly manicured lawns and beds. Yep, those big basset feet make quite an impression (literary) and can drawn stern stares from neighbors. I try to smile helplessly as I tug on the leash. Oliver follows begrudgingly after acting as if he has been strangled. It is quite a sight!!
