Hello from the newbie,
Gus is 39 lbs, the same as he was the day we got each other on october 1. i continued the dry food he had previously been given and he loves it. about a cup and a half twice a day. he inhaled it until a droolelr suggested putting it in muffin tins. now i love hearing him chew his food between each tin and i use the mini-cupcake tin so there's 24 little helpings and he grazes through them instead of vacuuming the bowl.
he loves dessert in the am and pm ( and that can be anything from chicken strips or a bacon chew or something else, i try to mix it up), and when i leave in the morning and at noon, he gets 2 milkbones in his crate and he settles right in to nap until i get home.
my question is this. he has never had people food, at least at my house. when i ama preparing a sandwich, he's up on the counter sniffing away but the minute i sit at the table to eat it, he walks away, as if thinking, "guess it's not for me, she's eating it". am i depriving him if i don't introduce him to people food? or is the adage, "what he doesn't know won't hurt him" applicable here? i' glad he's not a beggar, and wonder if it's a good idea to keep it that way.
another question: thanksgiving is at my house. what can i do to the turkey innards for gus? i always throw them out.
thanks all, and we send drool (although he doesn't drool, i know he'd send it if he did) to all in need.
susan, loving slave to gus
