[Dailydrool] Pills and Bassets

Nine of our dogs are not-a-Basset and all are a cinch to give a pill -- 
some will just take the pill and gulp it right down, assuming I'm giving 
a treat. But both Bassets are a pain in the rear and are not fooled by 
ANY wrapping or coating. The only solution with them is to shove it down 
their throats, deeply, and hold mouth firmly closed thereafter. Blowing 
in their nostrils is supposed to force them to swallow, but it doesn't 
bother Ethel. She just stares at me defiantly and can hold her breath 
for hours, or so it seems.
