To this I say... find a treat the G man likes a lot.. 
 
Hold one of these treats so he can recognize you have one, but that you're
not openly giving to him.  Make him sit like a good boy for 20 to 30 seconds
... perhaps even wave the treat in a taunting manner while making him stay
put.. 
 
if after 30 seconds you don't have drool produced.. then you don't have a
Basset, you have an Alien .... and should at that point in time call the FBI
to have them come take the thing into protective custody for studying their
potentially evil motives to subvert the human race by pretending to be
dogs.. 
 
of course I could also be wearing a tin-foil hat right now and typing from
behind stacks of old news papers and magazines, hoping to keep the
hob-goblins out from the upcoming hallows eve... 
 
but I could be right ... ya know?

Subject: [Dailydrool] another question about gus 
 
i have a question about drool:  gus has never drooled.  when i asked the
shelter about this, "how much drool can i expect from him?"  their answer
was "none."  does is come with aging or am i just one lucky gal?
