Three years ago while coming home from work in rural El Paso, TX county, I
come across three basset hounds sitting on the drainage ditch bank in the
middle of nowhere. Needless to say I stop, put them in the back seat, take
them home with me, to the vet the next day where I find I have a two year
old mama, and two one year old pups. So, today is the third anniversary of
the gotcha of the Rio Trio, who are now five and four years old. All still
loved and still here. How do you break up a family? Mama does such a good
job, the kids are well taken care of. It took a long time for Mama Megan
to feel like she was home here, it was almost two years until she lost the
haunted look in her eyes. Now she is happy and acts like a puppy at times.
So,I am glad I was where I could pick up the hounds, keep them and finally
convince them they are safe.
