Karen,

Thank you so much for your commitment to the hounds you've fostered for
us... and continue to foster... and for giving us all something to smile
about after all the recent Bridge departures.

It's so wonderful that Anya seems to have got a GREAT home... it always
amazes me that there are so many wonderful people out there to take in our
hounds, even when they are getting up there in years, or are overweight, or
blind... You think you must have run out of people like that, until a family
like Anya's comes along just at the right time! Anya was so close to not
making it out of the shelter and without foster homes like Karen's to
provide a safe haven for her, she could have been another statistic. Now,
she will go on to have the best years of her life! Again and again this
happens. We get in dogs who you think will be difficult to place, and
wonderful, perfect homes, just appear like magic!

So, Karen, I think your little Casino win was purely karma... you were
getting back just some of the good fortune that you've provided for the
fosters and your own hounds and wannabe's!

Congratulations!!

Addy

With all the sadness on the drool for the past month I thought I would share
good news and the great day I had yesterday.

Miss Anya our big red and white smooshy girl, who was rescued from death row
has a new "Furever Home"! This is not just any home. This is a home built
just
with low riders in mind. There are 10 fully fenced acres with low windows
and
glass doors so a basset can watch all the happenings of the world. Her new
family
is the greatest! I cannot sing their praises enough. They knew they wanted
her before
even meeting her. After meeting her and spending a little time together
Anya was off
to her new home. Mom sat in the back seat with her while dad played
chauffeur.
Of course this would not have happened had it not been for all the hard work
that
Golden Gate Basset Rescue did in making Anya, Ken and Margaret's dreams a
reality.

Oh but wait the day didn't end there. Since we were in Reno my best friend
and
transport helper Doris and I went to the Atlantis for their wonderful
buffet. I am not
real keen on buffets but the Atlantis has a really good one with awesome
food choices.
We stuffed ourselves so full that we had to walk it off in the casino.
 Doris will always
"play" a little in a casino so we stopped by a bank of slots she wanted to
play. Of course
there was one there three in the row called what else but Rescue. I am not
a big gambler,
especially when there are so many hungry furry mouths to feed in my house.
 I looked
the machines over and picked mine. So when it kept rejecting my $1 bills I
finally said
"Okay, I will play the $10 bill". The first time I one a rescue spin I had
no idea I was
suppose to hit the little button to stop the spin. WooHoo I won $3.

Then it happened....WooHoo I won 12 extra spins. Let it spin away. When
 the spins
hit $100 I was shocked.

Then it happened Again! During the extra spins I hit another rescue spin and
won 5
more free spins.

The machine is spinning away on its own. I bowed my head and said "Dear
Lord I
could really use some extra bone money to feed the now 6 bassets, 3 kitties,
Ruby Doo
and Cuddles." (I know saying a few prayers to win in a casino is probably
not the best thing
to do but the gang goes through a lot of food every month.) Finally the
machine stops....
I give a silent but heartfelt Thank You to the Big Guy. I have $191 extra!
I turn to Doris and say
" I just won enough money to feed the gang for over a month!"

Oh but I am not finished yet! I get home to the happy gang who are
surrounding me, all
vying for their "Yes I am home loving". In the mix is Isabelle (one of
GGBR's famous 61)
who is so very fearful and had a big setback when her adoption failed. She
is happily greeting
me with the rest of the gang, bouncing around with her tail up. Her tail is
wagging away!
She is the happiest I have seen her since she came back home!

Anya has the home all rescues dream of, the food was great, Momma has extra
in her pocket
to feed the gang and Isabelle's tail was wagging. What a Perfect Day!

Droolz,
Karen and The Dog House Gang
