[Dailydrool] Milk Thistle and basset angels

My vet just started my sweet senior Polly, age approx. 13, on SAMe for elevated liver enzymes. It is a supplement that contains milk thistle and other good stuff. He said her levels were not high, but, he wanted to see if the supplement could bring them down to a more desirable level. We have to go back in about 6 weeks, and get another blood test to see if they went down or not. She gets two tablets daily, and I can buy it at the vet's office but he said you can get it at a holistic store as well. I buy it from the vet because it is already the correct dosage for dogs and made for them.

My sweet Polly at times will stare at a wall or off into space. My other younger dogs do not do this. I wonder if dementia is setting in, but I don't believe so. She is so mentally with it any other time. She knows exactly what is going on around here!  My son, who is 16, asked me if Polly sees ghosts. (A previous owner of our house died here). I told him I thought she saw basset angels-- bassets that have previously gone to the bridge, that come and visit her. So, when her time comes (hopefully a long time from now) she will already know them and be ready to go. :)

Anthony, you are not weird.  I cry about the bassets that have gone to the bridge that I read about on the DD, even though I don't know them and never met them before. I think it is because they are such sweet, innocent souls and whenever this  awful, mean, crazy world loses a soul like that, it is sad for us who are left behind. Just like God will put certain people in your life for various reasons, He will also put certain dogs in your life to help you through. Unconditional love from a four legged friend. :)  They are all true blessings!

Give all your babies smoochies and hold them close tonight.....
