Dee,

As Anita mentioned, incontinence can be an issue with older spayed female *
dogs*. ;) For both Hannah and almost-queen Jake, it developed as wetting
their beds. I know it can be difficult to tell who is doing it, but what
you'd be watching for is someone napping in a variety of spots. Jake in
particular would wet her bed, wake up because *somehow *her bed got wet and
uncomfortable, and move to continue her nap. You might also notice one of
them having irritation around the vulva or licking it frequently.

Luckily this is very treatable through hormone therapy. Hannah's was
controlled through Proin for several years, while Jake eventually had to be
moved up to stronger estrogen. But then again, Jake lived to be over 14! The
quality of life improvement for everyone involved was fantastic.

Good luck-
Jaclyn
Abbie (who hasn't gotten there yet) and Josh
