Happy New Year to all our fellow Droolers! It's been a really long time since my last post. I've learned so much from you all over the years. And you've been there to sling healing drool through loss as well as glad times for us soooo many times. I'm here to ask for your help once again.
Our most recent rescue, Flash, has been with us just 2 years. He is approx. 10 1/2 years old and is a spry, very long earred, giant footed, nice n' jowly, sweet loving gent. He joined our pack and fit right in. And, as you have probably already surmised, we are crazy about him.
He has one little issue and I am out of ideas. He whines. Not just alittle....alot! He's been thoroughly evaluated by our vet and several specialists to be sure nothing was going on anatomically. I can deal with it when it's just a "Mom, can I weasel a treat out of ya if I'm reaaaaaalllly cute" thing. He ususally does. He's become the spokeshound for the group.
What I can't handle is that he starts every morning at about 4-4:30 a.m. I get up and take him out. He will do his business then come right back in. (especially now cause it's -2 degrees outside at that time of morning) But then he won't go back to bed. He whines from where ever he is in the house until one of us gets up for the day!!!! This has been going on for a long time, but usually not before 5:30-6 a.m. I could deal with that because I usually get up around that time anyway. But 4 a.m.???? I can't seem to get him figured out. I've tried belly rubs. I've tried scolding. Now I've resorted to putting Flash and his brother (WTB Golden Murphy) down in our "mud room" and shut the door so I can go back to bed for an hour or so! This stresses them both out alittle, but if I don't....I'm going to give out!!!
Any suggestions?
