My husband and I thought we might breed dogs in retirement. The more I read about breeding and all that is involved, financially, emotionally, physically caring for puppies, etc. etc.,  I say the best puppy is the one who is a little older and comes from a rescue. There are so many beautiful bassets to be had through rescues. Now, someday I might be interested in a retired show dog....
