I love you all.  I am thrilled that the breed we live for is being perpetuated and fine-tuned and responsibily bred.....However......while so many dogs are being put down, neglected, abused, abandoned, I can't support any breeder or pet store or CraigsList or anyplace to bring a Basset into your home but rescue.  Don't hate me, responsible breeders.  I do respect you.  Just gotta rescue, rescue, RESKU (!) til all Bassets have a loving home!

 

My ill-bred, neglected, thrown away 5 are the reason I wake up every morning!  I love Charles' crooked legs (can't think of any other fault he has!), Duffy's crooked teeth, Pete's long legs, Hannah Lee's.....well....ask her father, Hannah Lee is perfect, but she did have Parvo!  And Rudy's only fault is that he was sold as a silver dapple, long hair mini dachshund and he weighs 15 lbs!

 

Support your local shelters and rescue orgs.  Love your dogs.  Wave at the breeders - appreciate what they do - but rescue your next Basset - the dogs and I beg you - as does House of Puddles, Senior Hounds Abound, Daphneyland, AZBHR, Golden Gate Basset Hound Resuce, Basset Rescue of Florida.....get the point?!
