I have three Basset girls and one has chronic colitis. One tends to put on weight easily. The last one will eat any kind of veggies or fruit. Mostly, I had to address the one with colitis, so I changed to a low fat,wheat-free, human grade kibble. They all like the food. I also have added salmon oil with probiotics, and they all get their daily vitamins, Omega 3 and Glucosamine Chondroitin. I plan to and some enzymes for the colitis girl.

I guess what I want to say is, every dog is different. It gets so frustrating and confusing as to what is the best nutrition. I've finally come to the conclusion that it's just trial and error. Luckily I can afford to buy these expensive foods. I will say one thing....my girls have beautiful coats and are, basically healthy and energetic.

If anyone out there has any other suggestions, get me know. Also, if anyone knows of a Basset friendly dental specialist in the area of Torrance, San Pedro or Long Beach CA area, let me know.

Thanks,
Ida
