We have a basket of toys that were given to us when Marley came home to live here. She doesn't play much but the toys make the rounds occasionally. We see them and then they disappear again. Sometimes they go outside and then come in again. The girls also discovered that the cat toys can be fun too. We made sure the cats have their own playthings but the girls really like them too. The other day, Maggie was carrying a mouse around in her mouth, tail out, (a toy one) and then it disappeared. A couple of days ago, Davinci was pawing under the fridge and I thought he was playing with the dust elephants that are under there. He had found the mouse and when he got ahold of it, he ran across the room and got under the chair. Then he was tossing it in the air and catching it like some bassets I know. It was really cute. They are becoming basset cats. Today the cats were leaping over the dogs while the girls slept. I just prayed the kitties wouldn't land int he wrong place.

Since we have four bassets we always count when they go out and come in. In the old days when there were just two, life was simple. Now we have to count. And then we count again when they are in, especially when we are leaving the house. I am afraid of leaving someone out. We used to leave our dogs out in good weather when we were gone. We would never do that now. I am afraid that these little devils would devise an escape plan. And I don't want the neighbors to complain about the barking, even though there are multiple dogs in the neighborhood that bark all the time.

We lost Ninja in the house on Saturday and weren't sure where to look. She was under the covers with Nic and so asleep she didn't hear the slaves yelling her name. Usually she comes running to her name. Wouldn't want to miss out on any food or anything like that. No one here wants to miss out on treats. I think Shelby goes out just so she can come in and get a treat. She is funny because she starts demanding her treat and go sits by the container, well, under where it is. She is a hoot.

We are so lucky to live with this bunch of short clowns. They provide so many smiles and laughs. Ninja is cuddled up to me in her usual spot. Life is good. We are blessed.

We are sending drool to all in need.

Julie with Ninja, Marley, Maggie and Shelby, and the wild kitty boys too.
