Noah continues to amaze us in how well he is recovering. He is being given
some freedom from the cone, but we are using a doughnut now, as he really
wants to be attending to his much grieved over empty change purse situation.
When we are not here, he goes back into a cone, as I do not want any
surprises when we walk back in the door.
He is such a good boy, he has slept with me a couple nights, but last
night he wanted down about 230am, and slept on hte floor, filled with beds,
the rest of the night. The senior girls here scare him a bit as a few are
really quite grumpy towards him. I hope they will start to be nice to him
soon. Only 9 more days of coneheadedness!
Thank you to all who have sent their support for him during his recovery.
Delta Burke underwent a dental yesterday and thankfully had no teeth pulled.
When we first got her in 2 years ago, she had to have 14 taken out. She
also had a lump removed which was near her mammary glands and it is
suspicious, but the vet felt the margins were clean.
So she also has a few stitches on her side. She has not bothered them and
I hope to not have 2 coneheads walking around.
And we had to let our 19 yr old cat, Butch go to the bridge last night. He
had been in decline, and Lord knows, he had a long life, but was still
hard. He was so ready. He was not always friendly towards the hounds,
but tolerated most of them. The last year, he was spending most his time in
the 2 back rooms as he was so frail.
One funny story with Butch for you all, this involves a few hounds. Before
we had the house renovated, we had put a kittie door in our bedroom door,
so they could come and go at night while the hounds slept in the room with
us. The hounds, at times, would accidently push the door closed, during the
day and then stick their heads through the kittie door and bark at us to
come let them out. Okay, this is prime for a cat. Butch would sometimes
hear the commotion and come sit and swat at them. They could do nothing as
the only thing able to get through the cat door was one basset head. They
sure would be snapping at him, but he was faster than they were. You might
think they would retreat back into the room, but noooooooo!
We had many good laughs at this, and it is one memory of Butch I think will
last a long time. He could sure torment his sibling hounds, when the
opportunity arose.
Fly free Butch kitty!
Lastly, keep an eye open for the first February Frenzy to benefit the
hounds at Senior Houndsabound! More on this in a week or so! This year,
Noah will be the poster hound for this fundraiser. He hopes to be out of
his cone so his picture will be more dashing for all the girls. I assured
Noah we could come up with a good story about his eye, and that it makes
him more mysterious to the girls, so he was happy.
Much drool to all in need. off to bathe a few hounds.
