It's no good. I just can't agree that it is OK to just pass off a dog that is "not a good fit", not unless it has some serious issues and/or it is unsafe, or you have serious health issues and can't care for it properly.

Having said that, I am not convinced Marcie is not a good fit.
She sounds like a lovely dog. She may be more energetic than previous pups, but she is clearly very loved. And she clearly loves Debra.

It sounds to me that Marcis has a life that lots of other dogs would give their right paws for. She is taken out twice a day, has a mom who takes her everywhere, and works from home.

No crates, no being left to rot on the sofa, lots of toys and most importantly, lots of love.

Debra, I am not a doctor, but you are clearly going through a difficult time with health issues and I wonder if that was your meds talking? I know how awful some medication can make you feel. Some of them can make you a little depressed.

If you are really worried she needs more in her life, perhaps you could pay a dogwalker to take her out for a really long walk once a week, or doggy daycare once in a while? Buy a few hardcore toys like black Kongs (which really last) or those made from firehoses. There are also toys which are puzzles, which will occupy her mind.

I don't believe you want to rehome her and I don't believe she would want to be rehomed (if you were able to ask). I think she may have a major part to play in helping you get well.

You are giving her a lovely life. Much better than many, many dogs in the world.

Sally, with Rolph and Clara, UK
