I just love our vet. She gets down on the floor and has a chat with any dog that comes in. MacKenzie had a weird bubble thing on the inside of her ear. It was bleeding and the other two were doing the kissy-face thing with her. The Vet told us it was one of three things: She somehow poked her ear while snooping through the bushes or while rough housing with the other two; she had a tick that partially fell out, or now that she's two she's got some sort of benign growth that she scratched. She also had a nasty ear infection. What was fun about the vet is that she just said "well, it's an ear thingy" and we just laughed. So she's on antibiotics and ear drops.
The hard part of this vet visit was that MacKenzie was up another 2 lbs (now 68.8 lbs.). She should be about 50 lbs. Her thyroid test showed within normal range, but on the low side. All three bassets eat the same amount and the other two are within their weight range. The vet suggested "Slentrol" to curb her appetite. Thoughts? Any problems with this?
