For those of you who aren’t familiar with Western Missouri Basset Rescue,
let me tell you a little bit about it.  As the name suggests, it’s in
Western Missouri.  I’m not familiar with that area, but Chris tells me it’s
closer to Kansas City than to St. Louis.  The entire shelter is run almost
single-handedly by Chris Bly, who runs it out of her home, with what must be
the endless forbearance of her DH.  When last I asked, which was a few
months ago, Chris had a couple of foster homes that she had occasional
access to (correct me if I’m wrong here Chris), but for the most part, the
10-15 bassets the rescue generally has all reside with Chris at her
residence!

Chris tirelessly tends to everything from frequent vet visits, to adoption
inspections and the pulling of hounds from wherever they’ve ended up,
usually kill-shelters.  She keeps the records, manages the fundraising, and
keeps her eyes always peeled for hounds in need!  I’m sure that more than
once, vet bills and hound food have come out of her own pocket, which at the
moment is an unemployed pocket!

If any shelter really needs and deserves to win the weekly shelter
challenge, it’s Western Missouri Basset Rescue!  So come on everyone, it
takes less than a minute out of your day, and it cost you not a penny.  You
