Bev,

I am so sorry that your dogs are scared of the thunder.  I meant no disrespect.  My post was for the information of others who may be able to prevent this type of fear.

We have a thunderstorm going on right now.  Each time there is thunder, even faint, I go out and throw treats for the 13 week old puppies.  They are loving the thunder!  If it gets too scary for me, I bring them in, but they seem to be just happy and fine under the porch roof, almost waiting for more yummy thunder.

If stimulus is paired with positive reinforcement early on, fear can be prevented.  But you are absolutely right.  Once fear is on board, many dogs will not take treats and that is a sign the dog is afraid, and needs normalcy.
