The beauty and effectiveness of the original Blue Power Ear Treatment is the alcohol dries quickly leaving only a dry residue of the Gentian Violet in the ear which cures the yeast infection.

 

Vinegar, Witch Hazel and all the other substitutes people have described only leave a liquid, oil, or salve in the ear which was the reason the dog developed a yeast infection in the first place.

 

If the alcohol offends you, this is NOT the cure for you, and you should probably find something else.  I've been using the Blue Power Ear Treatment for over 10 years on my own bassets and hundreds of rescues.  It has cured them all, with no damage to any dog's ears.
