[Dailydrool] Fred and Annie being stubborn at the end of walks

A friend of mine had this problem (not with a basset, but same idea) and,
like you, used to dread the walks. But then she hired someone to come in
and walk her dog partway through the workday, and it almost instantly made
all the difference. Now Bernie (her dog) no longer tries to prolong his only
walk of the day, because he knows he'll be getting another one when his
"friend" comes. And by having company break up his long day alone, he's
happier and more well-adjusted -- so he loves his walks with his mom now, and
so does she. (Also, having a longer walk in the middle of the day burns off
some of the excess energy.)

She found a professional dog walker that other dog owners in her area had
recommended; I've also had friends hire local college or high school
students -- just someone to give their dogs mid-day exercise, company, and
something to look forward to.

Good luck with them!
