So on a scale of 0-4 scale please answer the following question.
0- Never
1- Rarely
2- 50% of the time
3 - Most of the time
4- OMD they won't be quiet or leave me alone until I let them out!

1 - The only time I hear a real vocalization with need is when they have gastro upset.

I have had to train some of my dogs, both male and female as puppies, not to demand vocalize. It involves ignoring the sounds until they are quiet and then slowly extending the quiet. It is critical for us because we travel with dogs and have a city apartment where they come to town.

Right now, my two six month olds will start houndsong, and the others reinforce them which makes it more difficult. Some also will see the pattern of vocalize, get your attention and then become quiet, so I have to break that up with longer periods of quiet, which can take awhile to get to. I will also do some negative punishment, such as turn out the lights in a room, cover a crate, but mostly just totally ignoring them.

First ones out in the am are those who are quietly waiting.

if you give in and give them what they want when they vocalize, then they learn duration and volume works.

For pee/poop, I know when they need to go and when they don't through observation and record keeping. Mostly anytime they wake up, they need to go out and after eating they need to go pee. Mornings see more poop than nighttime.

I do love the bell thing and would use that if I only had a couple of dogs.
