Pets can no more be replaced than people can. I like to use the term "successors" to identify the pets who come after, as in "Our Elsinore is the worthy successor of our late Jane Basset." Elsinore hasn't replaced the irreplaceable, she's merely succeeded her. I'm sure in time our Elsinore will have a successor of her own. Elizabeth
