[Dailydrool] Rosie needs drool

Rosie desperately needs any drool that anyone can spare at this point.
She's acted mopey and depressed for a couple of days so I made her a vet appointment for this afternoon. When I got home from work to take her to the vet, she was paralyzed in the rear end and was sitting in urine and feces. I got her to the vet where it was determined that she has no use of the rear legs and no bladder/bowel control. She's staying there overnight and is being given steroids and pain meds, and we will get an x-ray in the morning. It is obviously a spine problem.
The vet said that most cases that are this severe require surgery, and costs are high for that as you have to go to a specialist here. He said we would need to take a look at the spine and see what's going on to figure out what kind of prognosis a surgery would provide. If there is a lot of arthritis, she may be likely to continually have problems even after surgery.
In my heart, I know this is not a good thing at all. I also know that I will not let her be in pain for very long. I have to hope and pray that she gets better on her own with the steroids, etc. The vet said he has seen cases where the dog has gotten better on their own, but in most cases they require surgery and often the surgery is not successful in the long term.
Please send heeling drool for Rosie. We are very sad in our house tonight.
