My Fiona had a trichoephithelioma at the point where her ear joins her
head. My vet didn't send me to an oncologist, just a surgical
specialist, because she felt a specialist might save her ear and she
was worried a lot had to come off. I was a wreck, but the surgeon took
wide margines AND saved the ear. He took out a couple of other small
lumps nearby, also trichoephithelioma. She didn't receive any other
treatment and I was told just to monitor her to be sure it didn't
spread to her lymph nodes. No meds (aside fro pain & antibiotics) and
no chemo.

The surgery occurred a year and a half ago and she's been fine. She
tends to be a lumpy girl so I watch all her lumps and had 4 others
removed in April. She also had a dental at that time and the vet
removed a lump from her gum. Not one of them was cancerous.

I live in Portland, OR, so won;t recommend my vet or the surgeon, but
I was pleased with how everyhting turned out. I'm not sure where your
lump is located, but, once removed, my understanding is that is is
really gone, once removed, though they might take wide margins. Fiona
has a black scar runnin from the top of her head all the way down her
ear, but she is doing really well.

I hope all the best for you and that your outcome is as successful as
our was.

I got teary eyed reading about Buddy this morning and had to give my
girls a hug.

Drool to all
