As a rescue, and getting dogs in all the time who are scared and some are 
just plain crazy and that is why the owners abandon them, I have been bitten 
more times than I can count. I had to have 16 stitches across my ankle from 
a dog who ripped into me, I have had hunks of skin yanked out of my thighs, 
holes in my jeans, etc. from any rescue dogs they are quick. One time I told 
a dog "NO" because he was growling at another dog he turned around and 
lunged at me thank goodness he was short and could only grab my upper leg 
took a chunk out of my leg and my jeans, then lunged at me again I was 
backing up and he took another hunk so I put my hands up to keep him from my 
now bleeding thighs, that was the worst mistake I ever did, he sliced my 
fingertips as he was lunging for me and I came back with two nails missing 
off my left hand and three fingertips torn and dangling, I will never put my 
hands out agin in front of a mad dog. I am all stitched back together now 
but that was frightening. But I never ever hit a dog and never will. I 
finally ran away into another room and slammed the door as I doctored 
myself, came out and all was well again, but I could never adopt him and I 
never said no to him again. He finally passed away. No one better ever hit 
one of our dogs or I will knock them for a loop.
