[Dailydrool] Dog names

My first two hounds were purebred puppies.  They were the best girls.  They
were sisters.  They were Candy Cleo and Precious Posey.  Their father was
named The Roving Reporter of Jeffrone.  I never saw him but he must have
been a handsome guy.  Anyway We got Candy first.  She didn't know her name.
We called her April Sassafrass.  She was Sassy.  Only she wasn't.  She was
the droopiest houndette anyone has ever seen.  She didn't like living with
us much.  She wouldn't eat anything.  I cooked for her.  She ate and puked
or just did not eat.  She was a little bag of bones after a month.  We went
back and got Precious as they called her.  She was twice as fat as Sassy.
She was a ball with legs.  She ate all of both of their food if we let her.
She didn't come to the name Precious and we didn't intend to call her that.
She was Daisy May.  We got them in April and May.  She answered to Daisy
from the first moment.  She was like a carefree little Daisy in a field.
Eventually Sassy became Sassy and then some.  She became the dominant one.
She started to eat and loved her sister so very much.  They slept in the
same bed and were always together until Daisy died.  Sassy died too because
she never recovered from losing her sis.  We got Sherlock to help with the
lonliness but it was too little too late. Sassy disliked him intensely.  He
thought she was his new mom.  She thought he was a little devil invading her
space.  She was our Sassy girl.  She just had to grow into the name.  My
husband's boss at the time wanted us to give him Daisy(at about 3 years
old).  He thought she was the most beautiful dog he had ever seen.  She was
too.  All black and white with just small touches of brown.  I had an answer
for that and it wasn't yes.

I miss those old girls every day.  I imagine them running in the fields
catching rabbits or just running for the fun of it.  They loved to chase
rabbits.  They had a rabbit bark but never caught a single one.  They had so
much fun trying.  What I would give for just one more day.

We are sending drool to whoever needs it.  Ninja, Marley, Maggie and Shelby
with the somewhat maudlin mom
