[Dailydrool] Tybee postop

We brought Tybee home last night after having spent the day at the vets.
They wanted to make sure he didn't start running a fever and also to make
sure the meds were keeping his pain under good control. Right now I'm
thinking that his pain is too well controlled! He's a puppy through and
through. He is obviously uncomfortable and still wants to play! The
Houndettes were all allowed to give him a good sniff and welcome him home
but he and Ginger were ready to start where they left off and begin playing
right away. I don't think she will be the Houndette who will be allowed to
puppy sit! Tybee is a pack hound and hates to be without another hound. I
have a feeling that Jersey will probably be the elected puppy sitter.
She threatens to eat the puppy on occasion but will NEVER play with him. She
is too mature for that nonsense!

Our BaRCSE webmaster has posted some pictures and video that the DH and I
took last night right after we got home. Take a look at our main page and
also at Ty's adoption page for pictures and video. There are a couple of pix
of Ty in his crate and I'm afraid that is where he's going to spend a fair
amount of time over the next month or so. Please go to barcse.org and take a
look. Ty doesn't have a cast but he does have a long incision and a fairly
long pin in his leg to give it stability which may or may not have to
removed some time in the future. We'll have to wait and see if it bothers
him or not. Our vet had the preop and postop films there for us to see and
it was remarkable to see that Ty's elbow was in perfect alignment
immediately after the surgery. It's amazing how much force the one bone that
had continued to grow was putting on that joint! It was also very gratifying
to be able to see that we had done the absolute right thing for Tybee.

Wish us luck over the next few weeks. It's going to be a challenge to
keep Mr. Tybee quiet for the next few weeks! He doesn't do quiet well at
all!
