[Dailydrool] How we are doing in the various challenges

As of this morning, in the Petfinder Shelter Challenge, Carolina Basset Hound Rescue is behind one other rescue for the state prize in South Carolina. But it's pretty far behind still, so we still need a major push there.

In the Pepsi Refresh Challenge, all four of our basset rescues hold positions 1 through 4 in line to win a $5000 prize. Woo hoo. I am still finding ways to understand how to work this site. I am not on Facebook, but I signed up in the other category as a member of Pepsi Refresh. All it takes to do this is providing your e-mail and then inventing a password for this account to sign in. I was hesitant at first as I hate giving out my e-mail to commercial concerns, but then I figured that if I started getting a lot of advertising e-mails, I could just delegate them to my Spam folder. And, I am pleased to say, I have gotten NO advertising e-mails as a result of signing up. Okay, so that is step 1. And then each day you need to sign in with your e-mail and password. (There's a little box at the bottom of the home page that says 'sign in'. You hit that and it takes you to the sign-in page. You sign in and copy some letters to confirm that you are human (just
like the Petfinder Challenge). Sometimes I do not succeed in proving I am human, but it gives me a new set of letters to try again and I am able to prove my humanity on the second try. Then you get a voting page. You get 5 votes a day to vote for 5 organizations.

The first time I signed on, I had a hard time finding our organizations--I scrolled through everybody--I am sure there is an easier way. But after that I have not had much trouble. Sometimes there is a white slot with a "Q" at the top right, I type in "basset" and hit the "Q" and the basset organizations come up. There is a vote box next to each organization that you hit. Today there was a sign at the bottom left of the voting page that said "Your dashboard". My dashboard? I hit the sign to see what would happen and the basset organizations came up for voting. Anyway, I'm pretty bad at computers, but I'm finding I can work this site with a little attentiveness and ingenuity. So I'd encourage the other non facebookers on the drool to follow my lead. It looks like we are going to be able to win $5000 each for four of our basset rescues. That is super.
