Bev:
Thanks for the deep belly laughs that came from reading your post about basset behavior being transferred to Cooper. I can easily understand the situation, though the only transference that's occurred here is Lady Jane's impishness to the cat, who I swear is in cahoots with her because he knocks things down to her so that she can chew on them.

Dexter, whose birthday was on Wednesday, wants to tell Conley that he too is in danger, according to mom, of getting too fat. The treats have been good (he got a salmon birthday cake among other things), but he's had to share with the other two hounds, which somehow seems unfair. The birthday cake was too small for sharing, in Dex's opinion. A large, three-tier cake, with his getting the bottom one, might suitably have been shared. The raccoon toy was great, though, since no one else here wants to chase raccoons.

Dex hopes that Conley's birthday was at least as good as his. The mom is also promising that she will soon make Dex his own dog bed, but he's not sure he'll really use it. After all, the human bed is really cushy, and if there isn't enough space, mom accommodates him by moving to the couch. Maybe, he thinks, she should make the bed for herself, since it looks as if it might be pretty comfy, with all that thick polar fleece on one side.
