Our temperature actually got up to the freezing point today. We should break out the shorts. Oh, wait, I have a kid who wears them year round. I gave up trying to change that years ago. Anyway, We are covered mostly in ice. I hate ice. I really hate ice. Doesn't seem to bother the girls, though. Even old Shelby manages to get up and down the ramp to go out. She gets to the bottom of the ramp with her front half on the concrete and then she pees. On the ramp. She is so cute. She still goes out and goes, though, which is amazing since she has so much trouble getting around. She goes out a lot. Either she is fogetting that she just went or she is in it for the biscuit she gets when she comes in. Nic(boyslave) thinks she is bored and just does it for something to do. She does try to stir up trouble outside. She bellows at anyone who will listen. I still think it is cute. The neighbors probably do not.

Maggie is not bothered by the weather either. She goes out and explores all over. She likes to take her time. Cold paws don't speed her up either. Ninja is such a wuss. She does not like the cold or the ice or snow or sleet or rain or heat either. She does not like to be out of her comfort zone. Ever. Her comfort zone is where ever I am. She is right by me on the couch. Keeping me warm.

And bassets really are the best heaters. We sleep with our Ninja heater every night. Marley heats the floor under the bed. She is the troll under the bed. We think she was scolded for getting on the bed in her first house and has never forgotten it. It is kind of comforting knowing she is there. She growls if you pass your hand by her. Just to let you know she is still keeping track of what is going on. Maggie is another story. She takes her half out of the middle and then some. She gets to sleep with the boy slaves. She likes to sleep by me and I have tried it. She stretches out and wants me to keep my arms around her the whole night. She is just too big to be up there with the humans and Ninja. But she is very warm and snuggly.

We hope that everyone is able to dig out and stay in one piece. I have not been out much. Fear of falling on the ice keeps me from going very far. I fell several years ago and now have a lovely plate with 6 screws permanently attached to my ankle. I don't ever want to do that again.

We are sending be safe and stay warm drool to all in need. We are also sending heart healing drool to those families who have lost their fur buds. There is never enough time.
