...and the 2010's have begun.

So this past decade was the one in which we got our first basset (the
late, great Pw. Annabelle) - a puppy from the newspaper- and suffered
through her puppyhood, as she destroyed our house and peace of mind.
Then we suffered more when she contracted glaucoma at 18 months, and
was completely blind within ‎4 months. Then we discovered the online
world of doggy support groups. First blinddogs.com, then the Daily
Drool, and then basset rescue. Our lives have altered unimaginably
since then; 5 basset of our own, currently, and over 100+ fosters in
the last 10 years.

I used to have a clean house and money in the bank. Now I have dog
hair tumbleweeds, pee in puddles, a maxed-out vet credit card,
unconditional love, and a sense of purpose. And this is what I wish
for all my friends in the coming decade: unconditional love, and a
sense of purpose in life; what more does anyone need?
