[Dailydrool] Happy New Years - Right!

For some reason, the houndage around here likes to go visit the vetpeople
at the clinic on Holidays.  We've had several litters born on various
holidays, usually with many calls or a visit or two to  the
vet.  Our houndation bitch Sally went to the bridge on a long ago
Newe Years Day.

Well this year, Piggy Paws decided to bring in
the new year by bloating on New Years Day.  And she had to do it in
her own Piggy Paws style.  She never looked ill, never got restless,
never stopped wagging her little butt and her tail.  She just blew up
like a balloon.  Once we realized what was going on, the spouse
loaded her into the bassetmobile, put his flashers on, and broke the speed
limit all the way into and through town.  Dear man.  At the
clinic Miss Pig was thrilled to be on the table within easy kissing
distance of the medical staff.  She really surprised Dr. Gary who
said at this point most dogs are quite shocky.  Not our Pigs.
She was a trooper though the x-ray which, we were thrilled to learn,
showed no torsion.  So Dr. Gary sedated her a bit and was surprised
she didn't need to be put under as she happily swallowed the tube right
down.  (I could have told him she'd do that.  Any self
respecting basset will swallow anything).  Once she was deflated and
had been observed for a while, she came home, slightly woozy from the
sedative but still wagging.

Now the dear Piglet has her nose
out of joint because she only got a small supper and a small
breakfast.  She was not appeased by the fact that her meals were
canned, not dry, and she got several of them, not just 2, which, by the
way, has all the other house dogs' noses out of joint.  She
should be back to regular meals in a few days and everybody will be happy
once again and she can go back to amusing herself by stealing Mr. Oz's
bone as usual.

All's well that ends.
