HI, everyone.  I wanted to thank everyone who has suggested OMBR as
the next shelter to vote for in the Rescue Challenge.  We are a small
rescue; we only have 6 or 7 foster homes at any one time, and we place
about 25 dogs a year, all told. We could take in more if we had more
foster homes; dawG knows there's enough basset needing rescued in MO,
OK, and AR.  We always feel we are doing pretty well if we have $2000
in the bank at any one time.  Which, as you know, can be wiped out by
just one emergency vet visit.

As well as Sally and her four pups (anybody want a half-basset pup??),
we just today took in Daisy, a sweet senior gal who had been adopted
out from a local shetler, then returned because she apparently has
kidney stones.  We are taking Daisy in as a 'joint venture" with 4 the
Hounds, our sister rescue group in Missouri.  The two groups are
splitting the cost of surgery or Daisy, so she can get rid of her
painul kidney stones.  Then 4 the Hounds has a forever foster home
already arranged for this old gal.

If y'all decide against OMBR, that's fine, too.  I can also suggest
WMBRI.org (Wester Missouri Basset Rescue).  Chris Bly and her husband
run that rescue pretty much singlehandedly, with almost no funding;
(she's the lady who's been doing the PBF fundraiser).  I know $1000
would be a huge windfall to a group the size of WMBRI.
