You might try baking (roasting) or boiling chicken, and giving him some of  
that with the rice.  PLEASE do not give him the skin or chicken fat.   I 
usually cook mine with just a little salt and maybe just a touch of garlic--a  
little bit of garlic to flavor won't hurt.  Either shred the chicken or cut 
 it into small pieces.  So far, none of my "sickies" have refused  this.
