[Dailydrool] The Red Puppy

THE RED PUPPY

Last night, my friend Geri from South Carolina, called me to share something
that happened at her vet's office yesterday.  Geri had taken one of her dogs
in because of a limp and the vet told her to come peak into a exam room.
There in the room was a Great Dane mamma with her four puppies and two
basset puppies, just two days old.  One of the bassets is a solid red girl
and the other is a tri girl.  
The vet told Geri that on Tuesday morning on her way to work, she saw a
basset who had been hit by a car, dragging herself down beside the road.
She stopped and picked her up and took her immediately into surgery, where
she discovered that she was carrying two puppies.  The puppies were
delivered at 11:00 AM - momma dog didn't make it.  The Vet called another
client who breeds and shows Great Danes and had a litter of four puppies a
few days earlier.  The client brought the Momma Dane over to see if she
would accept the basset babies.  She did.  So now the Great Dane Momma is
happily nursing four Dane puppies and two little basset girls.  Geri asked
if they had named the bassets and the vet told her yes.   The red one is
named Patty and the tri is named Peggy. 

 I think Pat was busy on Tuesday morning after she left us.
