[Dailydrool] Dog Hates Vet?

Our Philby LOVES everybody - housesitters, plumbers, repairmen, etc. He sits at every newcomer's feet, rolls over to wait for belly-rubs and follows the new person all around the house. He is a lap dog, and our velcro-dog. Then there's the vet. Now, our vet is a real sweetheart - he really loves all his patients. But the vet has to do is put the stethascope near his chest, and for some reason, Philby goes nuts, snapping, growling, etc. We've tried giving him treats, double-muzzling him, everything we can think of. This year after about 10 minutes I said, "Let's just sedate him." It's not worth anyone getting bit, or Philby being so upset, either. The vet is very understanding. He says you never know with a rescue dog exactly what he's been through. After his shots, Philby takes a nice, long nap, and no one gets hurt. For us, it's the best solution. FYI, over the last 20 years this vet has treated 3 dogs, 5 cats and 3 rats for us, and has never had a problem with any of them. Go figure! Mary Lee
