[Dailydrool] Obsessed basset

Oh, I know that obsession!
 
Just like Freddie, one of my girls suddenly went wild over one spot.   It 
happened to be in the house, so we think that the cat had brought something  
in and it had been there a while.  It then moved on, because there was  
nothing there when we moved the bookcase, but it didn't matter.  She got  almost 
a glazed look in her eyes and listened to NO-ONE, just scratch scratch  
scratch, bark bark bark, stare stare stare, for days.
 
I thought she'd gone crazy, and was taking me with her!  Didn't matter  
what we did.  Finally, I got some "Skunk Off" spray from the vet (it  
completely dissolves all odors, doesn't just cover them up) and doused the whole  
area one night (when she was shut in the bedroom upstairs).  Next morning  -- 
she had no interest in the area anymore.  What relief!
 
I don't know if Skunk Off would work on dirt -- but I'd recommend trying it 
 -- if it doesn't work, maybe you could get some really powerful-smelling 
thing  (smells more than squirrel or whatever) and put it there -- I have a 
friend who  puts down coyote urine (gets it from a plant store) to keep 
animals away from  her flowers, maybe something like that?
