[Dailydrool] Question For You

This is a question for all you Basset owners......Do you have a DEAF Basset??  Not just a regular Basset that hears and still ignores you but one that is completely without hearing.  A friend of mine is working with her deaf Boxer and was wondering how you work with your Basset in a social atmosphere with other dogs (such as the off-lead picnic at the Waddle).  Do you let it completely free or do you just keep them on a long lead so you can get their attention.
