I need to come to the experts on this one cause I just can't figure it out...

Our Rosie (now 7 years old) has started being extremely sad about us leaving in the morning for school/work.  She will sometimes look at us as we leave but most days she slowly walks away when she hears me get my keys and start heading for the door.  To offer her some solace I have tried leaving her a treat but when I get home it's in the very same spot I left it.  Upon my coming come she runs to greet me, grabs the treat I left her in the am and gobbles it up happily.

I understand she's not happy with us leaving but is she going for the extra sympathy by not enjoying her treat during the day or is this something dogs do?

Can't help leaving gotta earn the money for the biscuits!
