You're most likely dealing with pack aggression and Alpha Male syndromes.
Canis Major has a pretty good quick set of reads for many dog problems.

By Topic
http://www.canismajor.com/dog/topic1.html

A core topic ... Canine Behavior
http://www.canismajor.com/dog/tbehav.html

Recommended are Pack Dynamics, The Alpha Factor, Feisty Females

And lastly the topic: Canine Aggression
http://www.canismajor.com/dog/tagress.html

Note that by topic.. the articles are cross referenced into other topic
groups ... so Feisty Females will show up more than once, Alpha may too ...
etc.. it will be the same article so once you've read it once you only need
to remind yourself if you're going through a group of topics ... etc..

The main things that go wrong, supporting the wrong dog which will cause the
real alpha to escalate behavior. The best thing you could do, is stop *all*
bed time challenges ... you can make TWO bed areas in your room, and marshal
the dogs to their area .. don't put the beds right next to each other, and
if you can, try not to have either of the dog beds closer to the human bed
or closer to the door, and definitely do not put one bed *at* the door,
you'll trap the lesser dog in the room or end up blocking her out if she
gets out.

Try to let *them* decide which bed they will take. If there is space
enough, and the dog beds are large enough (not thick, but in surface area
covered) you may find they end up sleeping together (warmth) as needed, note
that it will always be the alpha that decides to go to the lesser dog's bed
to get warmth ... the lesser dog attempting to go to the alpha would trigger
dominance aggression/position assertion.

Subject: [Dailydrool] Help with night time behavior

I was home for about 10 days and it became very evident tha she had started
to guard me.
During the day they get along fine, the problem is at night when everyone
goes to bed, if Maggie goes to get on the bed Mabel violently attacks her,
if they come up the stairs together Mabel boxes her ears and goes after
Maggie.
